I'm trying to use a Woodpeckers' rabbiting set with a tower binding jig. I'm having the bushing/bearings turned down to produce most used depths of cuts for binding and purfling. The depths of cut in the set progress in 1/16's" from 1/16" and to 1/2". I make most of my binding so can adjust that. B/w/b purfling us used most of the time (,06") but have used herringbone and abalone too. I have three of each bushing with depths of .0625, .125, .1875, and one each of step larger that I'll have milled down. Suggestions for what depths of cut I should aim for would be appreciated.

I would need one the thickness of my binding, .08 in my case. Then something that’s my binding plus purfling depth, .08 + .065.
I don’t know if that’s really helpful to you or not.
Note: I would bend my binding at a thickness a little greater than .08 so I’m scraping binding flush not taking the whole side down to meet the binding.

Not a direct answer to your question, but, you can get bearings from Andy Birko who is a sponsor here at OLF which come in increments of .010” instead of 1/16” increments. You can get a whole set, or just the ones you need. Might be better than trying to adjust your work to accommodate what you can find at Woodpeckers…

The cutter's diameter is closer to 1 1/2". and the bushing/bearings are lots different from what we usually have, about 1" thick.
